About the Subcommittee on Professional Training (SCOPT)
Co-Chairs: Kaushik Gurunathan, Cheston Saunders, and Sarah Szarowicz
The ad hoc Subcommittee on Professional Training (SCOPT) will coordinate and support the ASCB programs for career development and promote the involvement of postdoctoral fellow and graduate student members in Society activities. To achieve this, the Subcommittee members will:
- Strive to promote interaction among ASCB postdocs and graduate student members on an academic, social, political, and cultural basis, while also assisting the ASCB and the Education Committee in this endeavor.
- Support and advocate for postdocs and graduate student members of the ASCB in all aspects of their professional research training and career development.
- Act as a liaison to the ASCB postdoc and graduate student population at large and represent their interests to the ASCB and the Education Committee.

Travel Awards
Numerous travel awards are available for undergraduate and graduate students, postdocs, and junior faculty to attend the Annual Meeting. Childcare awards are also offered, with priority given to students and early-stage scientists.
