Informational interviews are one of the powerful tools that help in the advancement of a person’s career and they are often underutilized. They provide a great way to explore the diverse range of academic and non-academic career paths that are available to us. In this session, Roshni Rao will provide insight into how to use informational interviews to build your network. The presentation will be followed by an interactive session that is fully based on questions from the audience. This session is targeted at undergraduates/graduate students/postdocs.

Roshni Rao, Director, PHutures at Johns Hopkins University
Roshni is the inaugural Director of PHutures, a Professional and Career Development office at Johns Hopkins University where she helps PhDs and postdocs from all backgrounds discover and design a fulfilling career. In her previous role as Associate Director of Postdoctoral Affairs at the National Institute on Aging, National Institutes of Health, Roshni successfully created and developed impactful professional development programming as well as engaged and energized the community utilizing unconventional approaches, including building and branding a wellness program for students and staff. Roshni holds a PhD in Biomedical Sciences from the University of South Carolina, PGDipSci from the University of Otago in New Zealand, and a Bachelor’s in Microbiology, Chemistry, and Botany from St. Joseph’s College at Bangalore University in India. She completed her postdoctoral training at the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
