A free networking program exclusively for ASCB members.
ASCB Connect is a program for members looking to connect and learn from one another in areas like grant writing, publishing, and career transitions. This program builds on the success of the Cell Bio Connect initiative, which matched experienced attendees with first-time attendees, students, or those traveling alone to help them navigate the Cell Bio meetings. Through this virtual platform, ASCB members can continue fostering valuable peer connections and professional growth throughout the year.
In offering this program ASCB is partnering with Neuromatch, an organization whose mission is to foster inclusive global interactions for learning, mentorship, networking, and professional development. Neuromatch uses a proprietary algorithm that reads through your personal research interests and matches you with people that share your interests and either have—or are looking for—expertise in the following areas:
- Writing a grant
- Getting published
- Finding the right postdoc position
- Transitioning from a postdoc to faculty
- Careers beyond the bench
- Mid-career transitions
- Running a Lab 101 (e.g., budgeting, hiring, managing people)
Those with expertise in one (or more) of the above subjects will be matched with 2-3 members looking for guidance in that area. Once matched, all participates will attend a virtual meet-up to be introduced to their connections and to learn more about what to expect. Following the meet-up, participants will be expected to meet virtually at least once a month for a period of 3 months (which could be extended if both parties wish to do so).
ASCB Connect is a members-only program. If you are a non-member who would like to participate, join now. You can view a full list of ASCB member benefits here.
