The American Society for Cell Biology (ASCB) is thrilled to announce that John D. Aitchison has taken on the role of Editor-in-Chief for it scientific journal, Molecular Biology of the Cell (MBoC). Since stepping into this leadership position, John has been actively engaging with the scientific community through a series of impactful activities aimed at fostering collaboration and enhancing research quality.
One of John’s first initiatives was to meet and get to know the journal’s existing editors and lead editorial board. These meetings have been instrumental in setting new directions for MBoC and ensuring that our editorial policies align with the evolving needs of our community. The discussions focused on maintaining high standards for publication while also exploring innovative ways to support editors, reviewers, and researchers in their work.
John’s commitment to community engagement was further demonstrated during his participation in Cell Bio 2024. As you can see in this image, John actively engaged with attendees at the ASCB/MBoC booth. The booth served as a hub for discussions about publishing in the journal and provided a platform for attendees to ask questions directly related to their research and publication goals.
In addition to these discussions, John conducted a workshop on how to write an impactful research paper. This workshop was designed to help scientists at all stages of their careers improve their writing skills and increase the impact of their publications. Attendees learned valuable tips on structuring their papers, presenting data effectively, and crafting compelling narratives that highlight the significance of their findings.
John D. Aitchison’s proactive efforts as Editor-in-Chief are already making a significant impact on MBoC’s mission to advance cell biology research through high-quality publications and active community engagement. We look forward to seeing more exciting developments under his leadership!
