ASCB Advocates for Stable Research Funding Amid Federal Policy Changes
ASCB is closely analyzing recent Executive Orders from the new administration as well as the White House Office of Management and Budget memo that paused the disbursement of funds for certain federal programs, including critical scientific research initiatives. These actions have raised significant concerns within our community about potential disruptions to ongoing projects and the long-term consequences for scientific progress.
We recognize that this period of uncertainty has caused significant stress for scientists at all career stages. Concerns about the stability of your labs, the continuity of your research, and the future of your trainees and staff are paramount. Science requires sustained and predictable funding, and disruptions threaten not only individual careers but also the broader progress of biomedical and life sciences research.
ASCB is working through our long-standing coalitions and partnerships to advocate for continued stability in federal research funding. We remain committed to supporting the cell biology community and ensuring that researchers have the resources they need to continue their vital work. Despite these recent challenges, ASCB remains steadfast in its mission to advance the field of cell biology, foster scientific discovery, and advocate for policies that strengthen the research enterprise.
