In this webinar, CBE–LSE author Elizabeth Barnes will discuss findings and provide insights into the background, development, and research process behind her recent publication Community College Student Understanding and Perceptions of Evolution. Dr. Barnes will be joined by collaborators and other scholars in the field of evolution understanding and acceptance in a panel discussion.

Dr. Damani White-Lewis is an Assistant Professor of Higher Education at the University of Pennsylvania. He studies racial inequality in academic careers and contexts using multiple methods and theories from organizational behavior and social psychology. |

Elizabeth Barnes, Assistant Professor, Middle Tennessee State University
Dr. Barnes is an Assistant Professor at Middle Tennessee State University in the Department of Biology. She was trained as a discipline-based education researcher with a focus in biology education. She is most interested in studying social perceptions of science and how principles from social psychology can help us understand and mitigate negative attitudes towards science. As a National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellow, she earned her Ph.D. in biology from Arizona State University studying how to reduce tension between religion and evolution. She now runs the Social Perceptions of Science Lab at Middle Tennessee State University.
