Pre-Faculty Research and Education Development (FRED) Grant Workshop
The Pre-FRED Grant Writing Workshop focuses on the preparation of proposals for a variety of NIH and NSF programs. During this one-day event, we will explore grant writing, especially for NSF and NIH grants, with special breakout sessions for programmatic grants, education grants, research grants, and more. We will also discuss what is needed to prepare, write, and revise a grant for submission. Participants will also have time to speak with program officers and ask questions about different grant programs.
Meeting Objectives are:
- To provide grant writing and funding information for postdocs and junior faculty who are eligible to receive federal funding,
- To provide information on successful application components for the FRED program,
- To assist participants on how to turn an idea for a grant into a grant submission, and
- To assist participants who have been unsuccessful in receiving grant funding.
Senior postdoctoral fellows and Junior faculty members from groups historically and currently underrepresented in science and Faculty members from minority serving Institutions are encouraged to register. This is a hybrid event. In-person registration is available for NC locals, but seats are limited.
This workshop is an outreach event for the 2024 cohort of the FRED program.
This program is sponsored by the National Science Foundation Grant #MCB-2110604.
