About the Committee

The Publications Committee (PC) is responsible for recommending strategies and policies to strengthen ASCB’s publishing program. The Committee works on behalf of the Council to advance ASCB’s scientific publishing agenda.

Member Criteria

ASCB seeks committee members with broad experience and interest in publications who support ASCB’s publications program. Regular ASCB members, and Early Career Researcher members should have a strong interest in publications and support ASCB’s mission. Publishing professionals, librarians, or additional individuals with expertise needed as identified by the PC, staff, or the committee may also serve as members of the Publication Committee. The expert advisors are not required to join as an ASCB member.

Biographic, demographic, and scientific diversity in governance is an overarching goal of ASCB, and ASCB seeks to appoint members to committees who represent this diversity.

Time Commitment

Members are expected to participate in two conference calls each year (each call is about one to two hours in duration) — one in the spring and one in the fall. There may also be an occasional call to discuss time-sensitive matters.
